AT&T Adds 34,000 Wi-Fi Hot Spot Locations Worldwide for Residential and Small Business Customers
March 15, 2007
By News Report
From students traveling abroad to annual meetings overseas and families heading on vacation, U.S. residents will soon take to the skies to shed the winter blues and to embrace spring's welcomed return -- all with a new way to stay connected.
In a continued effort to deliver the most complete, anytime, anywhere communications experience, AT&T Inc. today announced that AT&T residential and small business premier Wi-Fi subscribers can now access the company's global Wi-Fi roaming footprint -- an additional 34,000 hot spot locations in 79 countries -- previously available to only enterprise or AT&T Remote Access customers. Residential, small business and enterprise AT&T Wi-Fi customers can now select plans that grant access to the company's Wi-Fi network at large -- more than 48,000 hot spot locations around the world.
"AT&T offers one of the largest Wi-Fi networks in the world with an expansive roaming footprint. This is something we're committed to leveraging for all of our customers, from consumer to small business to our larger enterprise customers," said Rick Welday, chief marketing officer of AT&T Consumer. "Today's travel takes our customers to countries all around the world, where even though they may be thousands of miles away, the need to connect to the office or to the home still very much exists."
Both new and existing residential or small business AT&T Wi-Fi premier subscribers can access the roaming locations, in North America and abroad, for no additional charge to their current premier membership or subscription plan. Consumers can access a complete list of roaming locations at http://www.attwifi.com .
Today, AT&T's global Wi-Fi network reaches more than 48,000 hot spots in 79 countries. AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet customers can subscribe to the AT&T Wi-Fi premier plan for only $21.99 a month to access this global footprint in its entirety -- delivering unlimited roaming capability to the 34,000 hot spot locations worldwide, as well as accessibility to nearly 15,000 hot spots in the United States (includes roaming and nearly 12,000 company- owned and or branded locations.)
"Our focus is on delivering the most complete communications and entertainment experience for today's digital lifestyle," said Welday. "And by enabling a robust roaming footprint and a virtually transparent network for all of our Wi-Fi customers around the world, we're further fulfilling this commitment."
AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet customers can bundle Wi-Fi service with their high speed Internet plan for as low as $1.99 a month, granting access to nearly 12,000 U.S. hot spot locations, including more than 8,000 McDonald's(R) restaurants, leading airports and other high-traffic locations.
Premier memberships and subscriptions to AT&T Wi-Fi are also available for residential and small business consumers who do not currently subscribe to AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet service.
