Economic Recovery Web Site Launched by California

California joins growing network of state portals tracking economic stimulus spending.

California has launched the growing number of states that have unveiled an economic recovery Web site to track expenditures from last month's federal stimulus bill.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger launched www.recovery.ca.gov on Friday. The Web site will provide Californians with tools to monitor ongoing activity and up-to-date spending information about the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The Web site will also post the geographic distribution of expenditures through the use of digital mapping technology, according to a press release. It will also be used to meet federal reporting requirements, and grant announcements will be posted there.

"We are working hand-in-hand with President Obama to help put Californians back to work and revitalize our economy," Schwarzenegger said in a statement. "We are fighting for every federal stimulus dollar -- and will work to ensure each dollar is spent effectively and with transparency and accountability."

Officials from Schwarzenegger's administration attended a White House conference on federal economic stimulus in Washington, D.C., on Thursday that was hosted by Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.

California's new recovery Web site joins a growing network of state portals that will complement the federal government's Recovery.gov. They are posted on a map.
