Frost & Sullivan Recognizes BelAir Networks for Industry Leading Carrier-Class Mesh Networking Technology
January 31, 2007
By News Report
BelAir Networks has received the Frost & Sullivan Award for Technology Innovation Award for its ground-breaking, carrier-grade switched mesh network technology used in Wireless Mesh Networks (WMN) worldwide.
"BelAir's switched mesh architecture delivers both high capacity and low latency -- resulting in much higher performance than traditional shared mesh solutions," said Frost & Sullivan research analyst, Narendran Vaideeswaran. "Support for QoS, packet inspection and prioritization is not available in a software-based model, but is absolutely required to deliver high quality voice, video and cellular backhaul applications, so BelAir's innovative switched mesh technology incorporates a hardware-based switch router in each node."
Each year, the Frost & Sullivan Technology Innovation Award is presented to the company that demonstrates unparalleled innovation in its industry. The award recognizes the quality and depth of a company's research and development program as well as the vision and risk-taking that enabled it to undertake such an endeavor.
"The Frost & Sullivan Technology Innovation Award is an honor that reflects our commitment to delivering industry leading broadband performance and scalability, and carrier-class capacity and reliability to cities around the world," said Jim Freeze, SVP of marketing and alliances, BelAir Networks. "BelAir innovation has resulted in many industry firsts, but we are most proud of our consistent ability to provide proven, cost effective wireless broadband mesh networks to customers worldwide."
With thousands of wireless mesh nodes operating in more than 200 deployments worldwide, including leading cities such as Minneapolis, the City of London and Toronto, as well as high-profile venues such as Dolphin Stadium in Miami, BelAir Networks mobile wireless broadband mesh networking solutions deliver high-performance broadband Quad-play services (voice, video, data and mobility) for municipal, residential and business applications.
BelAir Networks, also recently recognized with an InfoWorld 100 award, offers a comprehensive product portfolio that supports Wi-Fi, WiMAX mesh, 4.9 GHz Public Safety and cellular backhaul, and includes the flagship four-radio BelAir200 Wireless Multi-service Switch Router, the dual-radio BelAir100 Multi-service Node, the BelAir100C Multi-service Node featuring point-to-multipoint backhaul, the BelAir100S, and the single-radio BelAir50C, all seamlessly managed by the BelAir BelView Network Management System. For cellular operators, BelAir also offers the BelAir300 Converged Multi-service Wireless Node, combining cellular, Wi-Fi and wireless mesh on a converged platform.
