GMIS International Announces Annual Public-Sector IT Award Winners

GMIS International yesterday announced its 2007 public-sector IT award winners. The awards were presented last week at the organization's annual conference in Reno/Sparks, Nevada. The annual event was attended by over 250 members and IT vendors, including 10 international delegates from as far away as New Zealand.

Dan Furlong, project management officer, Office of the CIO at the Medical University of South Carolina received the MIS Annual Professional Award. Furlong was nominated by his boss, Melissa Forinash who stated, "Dan has been the cornerstone of our Project Management program since 2003, where he serves as an agent of change. He is a respected leader in our department of nearly 200 and has intelligence, integrity, fortitude and tenacity!" This annual award recognizes IT professionals whose meritorious performance is representative of service delivery excellence in the public sector.

Marc Pfeiffer, deputy director, State of New Jersey Division of Local Government Services, was recipient of the Hershel Strickland Ambassador of the Year Award. GMIS International Executive Secretary John Moody announced the award and stated, "Marc epitomizes the essence of GMIS
