Grants: $80 Million For Health IT Workforce Training

Dr. David Blumenthal (pictured), HHS' national coordinator for health information technology, today announced plans to make available $80 million in ARRA grants to help develop and strengthen the health information technology workforce. The grants will include $70 million for six-month non-degree community college training programs for those experienced in health care or IT. Participating colleges will coordinate their efforts through five regional consortia. Another $10 million will help develop educational materials to support those programs. Information about grant applications will be available shortly.
