Philadelphia International Airport Launches Wi-Fi Service

Airline passengers gain high-speed Internet access.

PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) wanted to provide wireless fidelity for travelers. The airport is launching high-speed wireless Internet service.

The Wi-Fi service from AT&T Wireless allows travelers inside terminal gates and concourses to have untethered, high-speed access to the Internet using laptop computers and other wireless devices.

Either through its own network deployments or roaming partners, the company now offers customers access to Wi-Fi service at six international airports including Denver, Dallas/Fort Worth, Philadelphia, Seattle-Tacoma, San Jose and Austin-Bergstrom. The company also plans to deploy Wi-Fi service at the Raleigh Durham International Airport.

For $9.99, customers can connect to Wi-Fi service as often as they would like, from a single location, within a 24-hour period either inside Philadelphia International Airport or wherever the company offers the service. In addition, a $29.99 plan allows up to five, 24-hour sessions from a single location, and a $49.99 plan allows customers to access Wi-Fi for up to 10, 24-hour sessions from a single location. After purchase, customers have up to six months to use these multi-use Wi-Fi service plans.
