UK Must Strengthen Cyber-Security for 2012 Olympics

"We need to be ahead of those who would damage us rather than a step behind," said former Home Secretary David Blunkett, who is to give the keynote at Infosecurity Europe in London the week.

"We need to put cyber security alongside chemical, biological and radiological threats," he continued.

Blunkett said that people in the public and private sectors are largely unaware of the true nature of cyber crime and need to realize the enormous threat it poses.

Cheyenne, Wyo. Man Accused of Creating First P2P Malware

Twenty-year-old Jason Michael Milmont of Cheyenne, Wyo. is being credited as the author of the first peer-to-peer malware. The malicious program he called the "Nugache Worm" is said to one of the most advanced worm/botnets yet. The worm took over as many as 15,000 robot computers nationwide and used them to obtain credit cards and other personal information.

Milmont will soon be facing sentencing before a federal judge. Read more about the case online.
