Media and research firm e.Republic Inc., the publisher of Government Technology magazine, announced Friday, Nov. 20, that it has agreed to acquire Governing magazine from the Times Publishing Company.
The acquisition of Governing significantly expands e.Republic's reach and influence in media, research services and events that serve public-sector employees in state and local government, according to company officials.
"Our flagship, Government Technology magazine, has published alongside Governing for more than 20 years, and we have a high regard for Governing's long history of editorial excellence," said Paul Harney, chief operating officer for the Sacramento, Calif.-based e.Republic. "Combined, the two organizations create the largest media firm providing news, research and analysis of the $2.9 trillion state and local government market."
e.Republic will continue publication of the award-winning Governing magazine, the Governing.com Web site and well known events, such as Governing's annual Public Official of the Year Awards Banquet.
For more than two decades, e.Republic and Governing have covered state and local government. E.Republic's media products have focused primarily on IT's transformative role on government, while Governing has covered public policy, management and politics.
